Charles Theron established Theron Construction t/a Tronkon in 1980 as a "general contractor". The company consistently grew from initial small projects and residential developments to become a large general contractor with a customer base that includes Governmental and Works departments, Military-, Financial-, and Educational institutions, Hospitals as well as the commercial and domestic markets.
The company developed into a limited company in 2007 with five directors. Situated in Potchefstroom the main focus was on servicing the Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp & Vaal Triangle areas.
Due to the growth in the company as well as business demand in other provinces, Tronkon Gauteng (Pty) Ltd was established in 2008 with four directors. The directors were able to expand to mainly the Gauteng and Rustenburg areas and completed the construction of the Royal Marang Hotel as well as the Bafokeng Sports Campus as their first project. These projects were completed in record time and the properties were used as the base for the English national soccer team during the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Ever since, Tronkon Gauteng has gone from strength and has recently expanded into Kimberly and surrounding areas.
